Blame It On The Whiskey

"Blame It On The Whiskey" tells a story that begins with a woman waking up on her bathroom floor, after a night of drinking. It tells the story of how she acknowledges how her drinking is negatively affecting the relationships she has, but how she will consistently choose alcohol over those who love her. Thus, her lover leaves her and she places no blame on him, but instead on the whiskey that holds her hostage.

Blame It On The Whiskey

Acke-Adams

wake up on the bathroom floor
steady myself against the door
i just need to get some rest
close my eyes forget this
sleep it off, clear my head
cause this don't help no more

you'll get tired of my excuses
i won't beg you not to leave cause i can't see what i'd be losing
if you saved yourself from me

cause you can't change who i am
i made a choice, you took a stand
i've never made enough room for two
i don't blame you, i blame it on the whiskey

i'll pour the rest on down the sink
after i take just one more drink
i couldn't count the things i've lost
feeling good comes with a cost
knowing right, i keep doing wrong
hit stop and then repeat
