Control

Sometimes a person may need only to hear that someone else has experienced the pain they're experiencing, in order to help them get on a healthier path. "Control" is a song that highlights how someone silently feels when they're in a controlling relationship. It's written from a desperate space of being able to acknowledge the loss of self identity and of acknowledging what they're "allowing" to happen to them, while also not seeing a defined way out.

Control

Acke-Adams

tell you want you want to hear
never draw lines in the sand
cause it's dangerous, dangerous, to force your hand

act like i don't have a voice
biting my tongue til it bleeds
cause it's safe to play the part that you expect of me

and i don't know who i am anymore
don't know what i'm expected to say
who i was, who i was, is fading

and you won't, let me be
you have taken everything, every piece you need
oh we play, hide and seek
you just sit back and laugh because
you know exactly how to control me

holding my breath when you speak
shake in my skin at your touch
cause it's hard to love, hard to love, when you don't trust
pretend that i'm never afraid
tell everyone i'm ok
cause there's no one that can make this go away
